Top Paying Craps Variations at Online Casinos

When it comes to the most popular casino games, craps ranks highly along with perennial favorites like blackjack, poker, and roulette, among others. What's more, learning how to play craps and understanding craps rules is not so difficult, making it an ideal game for those who are new to the world of casinos.

Top Paying Craps Variations at Online Casinos

Tracing its roots to England and France in the 18th and 19th centuries, craps today is a fixture in both land-based and online casinos. And because there are different variations, craps rules, craps odds, and craps payouts can vary. Generally speaking, the following are some of the best-paying online craps variations.

Bank Craps

The most popular craps variant, Bank Craps involves a special craps table and layout. In this game that's also known as Las Vegas Craps, all bets are made against the house. There are different types of bets, which players need to know to develop their craps strategy. These bets include the following:

  • Pass Line bet
  • Don't Pass Line bet
  • Come bet
  • Don't Come bet
  • Roll bet

Bank Craps rules state that the player makes their bet by placing cash or chips on the crap table's appropriate section prior to the rolling of the dice.

Crapless Craps

Otherwise known as "never ever craps" and "ruse craps," Crapless Craps was invented by Bob Stupak, whose goal was to create a game where players could never lose a Pass Line bet by rolling a 2, 3, or 12 on the come-out roll. In this game, the house edge is reduced while the craps odds are increased in favor of the player.

Furthermore, players can decrease the house edge even more if they choose to place large free odds bets. For this reason, Crapless Craps is not a favorite among many casinos since it is not that profitable for them.

New York Craps

Despite its name, New York Craps actually originated in Yugoslavia. However, it is most popular in the United Kingdom and the East Coast of the United States. These are some of the key differences between New York Craps and other craps variants:

  • Instead of the regular craps table, it uses a double-end dealer table. Two different dealers are positioned at the table's two ends, while two boxmen stand on either side of the stickman.

  • New York Craps does not permit Come and Don't Come bets. Place and Space bets are likewise unavailable.

  • This craps variant has the house taking a 5% edge on all winning bets. It also has a slightly worse odds compared to Bank Craps.

High Point Craps

One of the main reasons why High Point Craps is one of the top-paying craps variants is that it's believed to operate in favor of the player. This is because once the craps numbers 2 and 3 appear on the come-out roll, they are fully ignored. When the dice are returned to be rethrown, the player wins if he or she successfully throws an 11 or a 12.

Any other total is designated as the point number. In order to win the player has to roll a higher number than the point number. Players can expect even craps payouts in this variation, as well as a house edge of 2.35%.
